The elliptical head ( or named ellipsoidal head ) which is a head consisting of two parts: a rotating ellipsoidal sphere and a cylindrical straight section.

Elliptical tank head is fabricated to have a certain shape instead of a particular dish radius or knuckle radius. The dish radius is approximately 90% of the diameter and the knuckle radius is approximately 17% of the diameter. 2:1 elliptical flanged and dished heads are ASME compliant.

Features of our tank head:

1.Haipei Industry tank head is composed of half ellipsoid and a cylindrical straight segments. The Straight section can avoid mutation of radius of curvature between the connection welds of the head and cylinder, thus improving the stress status of the welds. 

2.As The Meridian curvature change of ellipsoidal part of the tank head is smooth and continuous, the stress distribute uniformly.

3.Easy to punch forming compared  with  the hemispherical head, because the depth of ellipsoidal head is smaller than the hemispherical head. (torispherical heads)

Elliptical Heads

Most tank heads are distinguished by the size of their dish radius or knuckle radius. However, elliptical heads are categorized based on their shape. These heads have a deeper dome shape and can allow for more volume. Elliptical tank heads are also ASME compliant for safety and overall product quality.

Dished Heads

Dished tank heads don’t have the flanged component around the circumference of the tank head. They’re commonly used for storage tank roofs, pressure vessel reinforcement, and vacuum chambers.
